About Automotive Technology
Prepare for a career in the automotive industry with our nationally certified program taught by ASE‑certified instructors who follow ASE Education Foundation standards. You’ll learn current industry techniques using up‑to‑date tools and equipment.
Students begin with Maintenance and Light Repair (MLR) courses covering general maintenance and six system areas (e.g., engines, steering & suspension) and gain automotive employability skills. Seniors can choose a one‑year Senior Only MLR — an accelerated, career‑focused course. After Year 1, returning students advance to a year‑long course focused on brakes and electrical systems.”
Program Features
- Use the latest technology and tools to diagnose and repair customer cars
- Work on a wide variety of donated vehicles
- Prepare for college and advanced training
- Students will have an opportunity to earn the student version of the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Technician Certification.
- Students in the Senior-only MLR and those who have completed two years in the program will have the opportunity to earn the State of Michigan Mechanic Certification in: Steering Systems, Brakes, and Electrical.
Intro Program
In these year-long courses, students learn what it means to be successful employees and gain valuable skills they can use in work and life. Like our traditional programs, students learn in the classroom and then apply their knowledge through hands-on projects in our labs. Small class sizes, plenty of support and a just-right pace help students thrive and prepare for life after high school.
